What you’ll do
- Develop features and enhancements for the GitLab product in a secure, well-tested, and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with Product Management and various stakeholders within Engineering (Backend, UX, etc.) to uphold high standards for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- Advocate for enhancements in product quality, security, and performance.
- Address technical challenges of moderate scope and complexity.
- Write code adhering to internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in a high-scale web environment. Promote and maintain these standards through code review.
- Identify impediments to team efficiency (“technical debt”) and propose and implement solutions.
- Represent GitLab and its values in public communication regarding specific projects and community contributions.
- Independently ship small features and improvements, with minimal guidance and support from other team members, and collaborate with the team on larger projects.
- Participate in Tier 2 or Tier 3 weekday and weekend, and occasional night on-call rotations to assist in troubleshooting product operations, security operations, and urgent engineering issues.
What you’ll bring
- Substantial professional experience with Vue.js.
- Professional experience with JavaScript.
- Familiarity with GitLab.
- Knowledge of AI technologies.
- Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, suitable for success in a remote and predominantly asynchronous work environment.
- Experience with performance and optimization challenges, with a demonstrated ability to diagnose and prevent these problems.
- Comfort working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process.
- Self-motivated and self-managing, with excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with other parts of the organization.
- Alignment with our values and commitment to working in accordance with them.
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote organization.
